By age 4 some children already hold strong views on how bodies should look. Children as young as 5 are aware of weight-loss strategies. It’s not just girls, also young boys are increasingly unhappy with their appearance.
Media have created a benchmark of attractiveness by which many young people judge themselves. Images of the ‘ideal body’ are everywhere and many kids have internalized these societal beliefs. It’s impossible to shield our kids from these messages but we can help them build body confidence and strengthen their resilience against media influence.
Join me in this 90 minute workshop empowering a generation of kids to have a positive relationship with their body.
About this Workshop
We will have a 90 minute long video meeting via Zoom. There will be plenty of time to ask questions and discuss specific challenges your family might experience. You will also receive a list of body positive resources for kids (books, films, magazines, toys, games, etc) and a printable handout on body positive affirmations for kids and the whole family
This session is recommended for parents of children ages 4 to 12 but others are welcome to join too.
You will learn how to talk to your kids about body weight, shape and size. You will learn how to boost your child’s resilience against media influence and shift the focus from weight to health. You will also learn about your child’s growth and foster a positive body image in your kds.
